You’ve heard it many times: Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder. In other words, not all tastes are alike. You may find beauty where someone else may not. This is one of the challenges faced by graphic designers, not just here in Albany, but throughout the country. And believe it or not, geography does play a role.
Creatives, as we call them, use their inner eye to develop innovative, eye-catching designs that they hope will appeal to everyone. Graphic designers have to see the beauty through the eyes of the target audience. It is helpful not only for your graphic designer to understand your message but how you plan to use that message. This helps them to create geographically appropriate designs.
For example, the great Northeast is renowned for winter sports. Therefore, many graphic designers throughout the Albany, Schenectady and Troy area use colors that convey a soft, cozy, almost warm feeling. Blues, whites, greens and yellows are common in this area. However, those same colors may not work for a piece that is being distributed in Texas. So, if you want your piece to knock the cowboy hat off of a Texan, be sure you let your graphic designer here in Albany know that that’s where you’re going to use the piece.
